How about this to inject a bit more longetivity into the PvE experience as well as allowing more interesting armour options?

Why not make the late game collectors (crystal desert, southern shiverpeaks) that offer armour require large amounts of collector items (~20-30) but offer some truly unique armour pieces that you can't get anywhere else. Not only would these collector armours look the part, but they would offer PvE only bonuses to make things more interesting.

For example:

You might pick up collectors leggings that offer 10% improvement in speed when enchanted, but 10% reduction in speed when hexed.

You might grab collectors gloves that decrease all elemental fire spells recharge times by 10%, but increase everything else by 10%.

You might find a collectors chest piece that reduces physical damage by 3 points but increases cold damage by 5.

There are literally thousands of combinations.

The advantages of this are obvious...

Improved longetivity
Completely optional game mechanic
Greater sense of achievement
Interesting PvE only stats (imagine the combinations!)
Lots of experimentation (armour combinations and skills)
More freedom to customise your character (fewer clones)
PvP game unaffected (BONUSES DON'T WORK IN PVP)
Obtainable by everybody (not out of reach like fissure armour)
Basic armour would still be available from collectors, but only require 5 collectables as usual.

Any comments?

Neat idea, but I wouldn't expect to see it.

I think the balancing act would be hard to do. That would not be a problem if a peice of armor was unusually weak, but if it was not done exactly right, someone would probably end up with some exceptionally good armor (hopefully me) and do some serious crushing in GvG and Tombs.

I do think that the collectors need more variety though. I like the looks of the collector armor, but it gives no bonuses at all. How about a Gladiator Collector armor, or Platemail. I would even like it if the looks were the same with different stats. I might like that more, since I tend to wear different peices based on what I need from my armor.

It wouldnt be a problem in GvG or tombs because the unique stats are PvE only. The worst that could happen is someone finds a great combination for farming.

Edit: One thing I forgot to mention, but it was hopefully implied is that every piece should have both positive and negative aspects to it. So players wouldn't get more naturally powerful by using these armours, but rather it would help to compliment their build.

I like the part about the unqie armors from differnet places and collecting part but as for the PVP no no its has to work everwhere. Plus the creators can't waste that much time on making every part of the game that uniqe but it would be nice no doubt
